JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020:

The debate on whether NTA should postpone JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 is still going on. Many students, parents, politicians, celebrities, and

activists are demanding the postponement of the JEE Main 2020 and NEET UG 2020, however,

NTA has started its preparation for the safety of the students. Around 8.58 lakh candidates will appear for JEE Main 2020 exam this year. NTA will be ready with sanitizers, face masks, and gloves for the candidates at the exam center.

As the safety of the candidates is the top priority of NTA. Therefore, NTA will be ready with sanitisers, face masks, and gloves for the candidates in the exam center.

As per reports, about 10 lakh face masks, 10 lakh pair of gloves,

and around 6600 litres of hand sanitizers.

NTA will conduct JEE Main 2020 as per the schedule i.e. from September 1 to September 6, 2020.

NTA’s plan for safe conduction of JEE Main and NEET UG 2020 exam:

  • NTA has defined a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) based on recommendations of a high-level committee of medical experts, various government directives, and guidelines issued from time to time by the government
  • For ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit timings candidates have been staggered
  • Thermo gun for temperature reading at entrance and separate lines for boys and girls (up to 20 boys/ 20 girls)
  • At every Centre, isolation rooms have been planned for Covid-19 suspects
  • Candidates have been issued advisory guiding them about “Do’s and Don’ts” for proper social distancing
  • To ensure social distancing, the number of exam centers have been increased.

Demands to postpone the exams:

A few days back, four thousand students went on a hunger strike in a view to postponing the JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exam. Recently, several opposition leaders like Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, DMK President MK Stalin, and Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have also demanded the postponement of the exams.

Environmental and climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted her support in the postponement of the upcoming . Actor Sonu Sood is also backing the demands of students for the postponement of the NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 entrance exams.
